Job Description

 

CORPORATE MISSION

 

The mission of the Central Texas Workforce System is to provide quality education, training and labor market services which give businesses and residents of the region competitive advantage in the global economy.

 

Board Size:                        27 Members                        Tenure:                        3 Years (Staggered)     

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Incumbent must have an interest in volunteer service; possess experience in training, educating, economic development and developing the workforce; be a decision-maker with the ability to influence and motivate others; team player.

 

                            DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Ø      Develop policy and oversight measures for workforce development programs;

Ø      Develop and employ creative alternative financing strategies;

Ø      Develop aggressive alternate financing;

Ø      Communicate the mission and services provided by the Workforce Board;

Ø      Establish a network that promotes collaboration among community programs whose goals support and supplement the Workforce Board;

Ø      Represent Workforce Board, its programs and services throughout the Area and serve as lead contact in the Central Texas Workforce Area – promote Workforce Board, Centers, services, and programs;

Ø      Initiate, investigate and coordinate with the community programs supporting Workforce Board mission;

Ø      Be liaison and spokesperson with local elected representatives;

Ø      Know goals and vision of how Workforce Board should be involved;

Ø      Have vocal/visible presence in community;

Ø      Come with a vested interest in community/economic development;

Ø      Have qualities such as – takes risks, has open mind, is progressive and an independent thinker, is a team player;

Ø      Have knowledge of community;

Ø      Define what community is;

Ø      Know what Workforce Board does;

Ø      Advocate for Workforce Board’s mission;

Ø      Take action to make coordination, integration and accessibility of services happen;

Ø      Share information/expertise of area you represent

Ø      Expand on orientation with philosophy as well as programs for new Board members – (after two (2) years, Workforce Board member will be expected to be a mentor for new members).
